Cleaning Your Drums

Let’s touch on this subject real quick as we have had several e-mails about this. Most drummers use Windex with a soft cloth because we all no how easy it is to scratch the finish on your kit. Windex is a great product to use because if any thing it is non-abrasive! Also this is very important; dust your drums with a feather duster prior to cleaning to remove any dust particles that could scratch your finish. Yes dust can scratch! Now another thing when cleaning your drums is to make sure you spray the soft rag with your cleaner, don’t spray the drum! Stainless steel drum
About that rag. I want you to use a microfiber cloth, they are very soft and will not bring you any unwanted damage to your finish. Ok now what about polish? Well lets be real careful here because polish can lead to build up that can over time bring you a lack luster finish and you don’t want that. If you feel you would like to try a polish product please stay with a product made for the job. What I mean by that is use a product for drums not cars or furniture! Here are a few products you can look in to if you would like to try a polish: Trick Drum Polish, Lizard Spit Drum Polish, Dunlop Drum Shell 65 Polish and Cleaner, Hemp Oil Drum Polish – Genuine Products, Vater Drum Polish. Well there you go, so keep your kit looking good by keeping it clean. Till next time.

Drumming tip!

Keep a journal with your drum practicing ideas in it. It assures visual recognition as well as aural and increases the rate of learning/memorization for drumming.
