Musicians Donate 52,981 Cans Of Food To Charity At Guitar Center Stores Nationally
Guitar Center announced the completion of a four-week nationwide food drive that resulted in the donation of 52,981 cans of food to local communities. Between November 1 and November 30, 2009, musicians brought nonperishable items to their nearest Guitar Center. All food collected was delivered to food banks across the country in hopes of easing the national issue of hunger.
“When Guitar Center initially launched the nationwide food drive, we only had plans of collecting for two weeks,” says Gene Joly, executive vice president of Guitar Center stores. “However, we quickly realized that due to overwhelming support from local communities, as well as each Guitar Center location, we needed to extend our efforts through the entire month of November. Guitar Center would like to thank everyone who made this project such a success—our generous customers and sales associates really rose to the occasion this holiday season.”
